The League of Women Voters Education Fund conducts voter service and citizen education activities. It is a nonpartisan nonprofit public policy educational organization, which:
  • Builds citizen participation in the democratic process.
  • Studies key community issues at all government levels in an unbiased manner.
  • Enables people to seek positive solutions to public policy issues through education and conflict management. Donations to the Education Fund, a 501(c)(3)corporation, are fully tax-deductible where allowed by law.

The state League's Education Fund, LWVCTEF, organizes debates for candidates for the offices of U.S. Senator, Connecticut Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of the State, Attorney General, Comptroller, and Treasurer. League-trained moderators are available. Some local Leagues organize debates every year for each election; check your local League's website.

1st Congressional District Wednesday, October 26, 5:30 p.m., at the Hartford Public Library, 500 Main Street: debate between John Larson, Matthew Corey and Mike DeRosa; co-sponsored with Hartford Votes. Parking behind the Library (access from Arch Street) and on the street.

4th Congressional District Sunday, October 23, 5:00-6:30 p.m. at the Clune Center, Wilton High School, 395 Danbury Road (Route 7): debate for the candidates for U.S. Representative for the 4th Congressional District (Himes vs. Shaban).

5th Congressional District Thursday, October 13, 7:00-8:00 pm at the Portuguese Cultural Center, 65 Sand Pit Road, Danbury: 5th Congressional District debate between Elizabeth Esty and Clay Cope.
